Debenhams has become the first UK department store to start selling its products on both eBay and Amazon,
in an effort to boost sales from the millions of visitors to the sites.
The prominent UK high street chain claims to be the first to make the move over to the two online
stores in an attempt to open the door to new customers.
Explaining the move Debenhams Deputy Chief Executive, Michael Sharp said:
“A strong presence on the web is essential for any modern day retailer. Our use of Amazon and eBay, as well as
Debenhams.com, opens the door to millions of new customers allowing them to shop from our fantastic range of products
wherever they are in the UK, all from the comfort of their own home.”
Debenhams has opened an outlet store on eBay UK that sells about 100 products, from homewares to electricals, but it plans to double
this number next week.
More than 20 large UK retailers such as the catalogue giant Argos, Littlewoods, JD Sports, eBuyer and Blacks now have
Outlet Stores on eBay offering a wide range of products often at discount prices. [ Show More ]
