"Come to think of it , eBay"
Last week eBay launched their TV, web & print based ad campaign with the tag line
"Come to think of it, eBay" which will run through Christmas.
eBay declined to say how much it was spending on this latest advertising push which is designed "to shift the buyer perception of what eBay is today" said Lorrie Norrington,
president eBay's marketplace operations.
The new campaign, crafted by Omnicom Group Inc. ad shop Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, is the first advertising effort by eBay in about 18 months.
Featuring products such as designer dresses, cameras, flat screen tv's, video games it is apparent that eBay is trying to reposition itself
in buyers minds. No longer the destination for just second hand items eBay wants to make buyers aware that it offers new, overstock and out-of-season
items at discounted prices. One interactive online ad says that last year's model mp3 player still plays this year's music.
There has been a mixed reaction to the new campaign with some understanding the reasoning behind it whilst others believing that it
will do little to help the average seller.
