eBay UK is promising a spectacular extended weekend
of savings for shoppers with discounts of up to 70% across a wide range of popular products.
Billed by eBay as a "Spectacular Weekend of sensational products at unbelievable prices!"
it is another sign of eBay's attempt to shape the UK marketplace.
Similar to other eBay promotions in the busy run up to Christmas, this Spring event is
timed to coincide with the end of the Easter holiday period in the UK. It remains
to be seen whether this one, at this time of year, will be as successful for those
sellers involved but it will certainly be welcomed by savvy shoppers.

seen a big surge in interest in such pop-up events over the past year from cost conscious shoppers.
Whilst special promotions such as this weekends event do attract a lot of attention many people are
regularly browsing our eBay Coupons & Daily Deals to
find huge discounts against RRP from eBay's best sellers. In fact much of eBay's success in the 2012
Christmas shopping period has been attributed to its daily deals, flash sales and other promotions.
Christopher Payne, Senior Vice President of eBay recently commented "Our goal is to become
the partner of choice for large retailers and brands globally - and I'm not just talking about
marketplaces (but rather, all of eBay Inc. assets) that make an unbeatable combination for
large merchants. "
This strategy is obviously being replicated not only in the US but also in the UK and many of
the other eBay International Marketplaces.
Combined with a more aggressive approach to its nearest competitors, it's recent social & mobile
shopping developments and quiet acquisitions eBay is developing a clear future growth strategy.
This eBay "Spectacular Weekend" promotion starts this Friday 12th April until Sunday 14th April.
