Hi,
You may have noticed that eBay.co.uk's search page layout has changed recently, and that the opt-out function to keep the old layout is being removed in four weeks time. You can see for yourself how bad it is here - http://playground.eBay.co.uk
This Change is also coming to the US site and it really Really stinks. There is a petition against the change below. If you're an eBay regular please sign it.

eBay are continually fiddling round with their search systems and it seems now it will be affected by the "reputation" of the sellers, so the "better" sellers listings will appear before those of the "not so good" sellers. How eBay define who are the better sellers is highly controversial.
This is just one of many recent changes carried out by eBay. What is consistent in all these is the refusal of eBay to take any notice whatsoever of the views of users. An example of this is the recent change to the feedback system where it is now impossible for a seller to give a buyer a negative or neutral rating. Thus at one stroke eBay have made their feedback system a complete meaningless farce.
The truth is that eBay are losing members, listings are declining and the all important share price is slipping. All these changes are desperate attempts by the site to reverse its decline. But signing petitions is a complete waste of time because eBay never take notice. Far better to move to other growing sites (most of which are listed on the Auctionlotwatch main site under UK auction sites). Also consider Amazon's Marketplace. |

i agree about a petition not actually getting them to chage it back but it may help in making future "progressions" actually better for the users |

eBay now seem to be changing direction. They are reported to have invited several very large commercial concerns to offer their surplus and end of range goods on eBay sites. Apparently the fees will be much less than charged to other sellers and possibly even fee free (for listing). It has the advantage for eBay that their declining listing numbers will increase and that these sellers are more likely to "deliver the goods" than some of the smaller sellers on the site. It also fits in with eBay's drive to concentrate on buy it now items rather than auctions. For smaller competing sellers this is very bad news and no doubt many of them will be forced out of business or have to decide to go and try other avenues for making sales. |
