OneWay is a large New Zealand site which has been going for seven years. It has several thousand members and even now it has over 280,000 items for sale though the numbers used to be much higher. The site has been for sale for several months but it seems no sale could be concluded and now the site is announcing it will close for good on the 30th November 2008.
The site has entry portals for Australia & the UK which in effect take you to the main site and these will close as well. There used to be a USA portal as well but that has already gone.
The busiest sellers on the site are sellers of stamps and understandably they are not very happy at the decision, as they now have to find suitable alternatives.
The fact that a site as big as this can shut up shop is a depressing reminder of what difficult times we are entering, and unfortunately there are certainly going to be a lot of other auction sites following them in the next year or two. |
